I was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana. I went to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, to attend Veterinary School, but became more and more enthralled by animal behavioral studies. I graduated from Colorado State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Zoology. My interest in dogs began at an early age, when I began training and showing Cocker Spaniels with a Certified Master Trainer and Groomer. I completed two titles by the time I was 14 on my first dog, a cocker spaniel named CH Tabaka's Cosmic Wizard, CD. I continued training and grooming dogs after retiring from the show circuit. As training techniques evolve and we gain better understanding of canine behavior, I grow more and more engaged by dogs and their place in our lives. In May of 2000, I opened Dog Logic, Inc. and made it the first of its kind in Missoula. Dog Logic is now the premier facility in Missoula, supporting over 5500 canine customers with over 15,000 square feet of space housing over 70 dogs daily. Currently, I have 6 dogs: Chelsea, Sig, Draco, Dilly, Soda, and Buddy.
I was born and raised in the Missoula area. From a very young age, I have always had a passion for animals of all kinds, but dogs have always had a special place in my heart. We always had dogs growing up, and I can remember when I was sad or sick my four legged best friend was always there with sweet gentle eyes and wagging tail to cheer me up. I first became part of Doglogic in March of 2009 and to this day I feel it was the perfect fit. I currently am a student and University of Montana as a Psychology major. My dream is to one day be able to apply what I have learned in Psychology to our furry four legged pals.
Dilly was born in October of 2007, and came to Dog Logic as a foster from the Bitteroot Humane Society. She only stayed with the pack for a few months before I just couldn't say no to those sweet brown eyes and wonderful personality. She fit right into the pack at home, and is best friends with her pack brother, Draco. She loves daycare and hiking, and always greets us with a huge smile that can lighten anyone's day.
Sig was born in June of 2008. He also came to Dog Logic as a foster from the Bitteroot Humane Society. His previous owner relinquished him after doing partial narcotics detection training and field hunting training due to an injury he suffered to his biceps tendon that was left untreated and therefore left him with a permanent limp. We hope to one day get the surgery he needs to relieve his pain and limping. Although if you were to ask Sig, he would never tell you he has anything wrong with him. He romps with his buddies at Dog Logic and loves hiking and training. He is the most loving dog, always wanting a pet or rub down. I am so lucky to have found you my boy.
Draco was born April 20, 2007. I chose him, or more aptly he chose me, after my sweet Labrador of 12 years lost her battle with cancer. He is a confident, happy, active young man, and is quickly becoming a big part of our Dog Logic crew. He knows tons of tricks (hop, snap, spin, rollover, shake, backup) and is learning scent tracking and narcotics training. He is the biggest Little Man I know. I love you, buddy.
Soda was born in July of 2009. Soda was a stray dog that came from a friend that found her on the streets after watching her owner severely abuse her and let her loose to roam the streets. After some training to gain her trust and working hard to teach her that people can be trusted (and often have yummy treats), I introduced her into my pack at home and never looked back. She is goofy and fun loving, and shows everyone she meets that Pit Bulls are friendly sweet dogs. She enjoys daycare and especially the doggie cake at the monthly birthday parties at Dog Logic.
Buddy was born in September of 2002. My partner rescued him from Brooks Street in Missoula after watching him being thrown from the window of a car going 35. He had horrible injuries both internally and externally, and the vets weren't sure he would survive. But with lots of TLC, he pulled through, and is a happy healthy little man. He loves to play chase, and always has a toy in his mouth.
Chelsea was born in May of 2007. Chelsea came to us when her owner had a family tragedy and she moved to another state for a year and could no longer care for Chelsea. She was quite overweight and we slowly got the pounds off and muscle on with daily hikes and daycare. Due to her weight, she had partially torn both of her ACL tendons in her knees. But Chels never slowed down, never afraid to "put on the sauce" and jaunt off happily into the mountains. Both knees required surgeries, and now she is a happy healthy smiling member of my pack.
